How to Plan an Off-Grid Camping Trip Without Depending on Shore Power
A practical framework for water, food, cooling, lighting, communication and backup planning when your campsite has no electrical hookup.
The best off-grid camping setup starts with a load plan, not a shopping list. Identify the systems your trip actually depends on: safe drinking water, food storage, shelter, lighting, navigation, communication and temperature management.
Treat water and food as separate planning problems. For perishable food, start properly chilled, monitor storage temperature with a thermometer, and keep your cooler shaded and closed as much as practical.
Reduce electrical demand before increasing battery capacity. Build redundancy around consequences and check current weather, fire restrictions, closures and local regulations before entering remote areas.
